Although I resemble a panda with huge rings under my eyes, even on a good day, I am not one of the many women who suffers from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. This is a disorder that leads to extreme tiredness and fatigue. There is a belief that women going through the menopause may suffer more from this.
My mother was one such person. In fact, when I asked my mother what I might expect to endure when I went through menopause, she warned me about it saying that it felt like a “bad dose of influenza during which all your joints ached and you feel unbelievably tired”.
I recall she often complained off feeling ‘run down’ and terribly tired. Being a lady from a generation that just got on with it, she didn’t question it and carried on as best she could, but there were days when she struggled desperately to get out of bed.
Nowadays, we have more understanding of what is happening to our bodies and can help them deal with this. Relaxation methods and exercise will work wonders and help you through these ‘no energy’ days.

One of the more minor symptoms of menopause is a change in your fingernails. Some women notice that their nails become softer, crack or break easier. I discovered that keeping nails well oiled helped hugely and I was assured by a nutritionist, that eating almonds would also assist. Don’t overdose on them though, they are quite fattening!
